Death Valley Flowers

Ghost Flower with Blister Beetle in Panamint Valley

April 2001

$25.00$1,600.00

This Gravel Ghost annual is named that for a specific reason: its foliage hugs the ground, then a long stem without leaves sports the inflorescence on top such that during the ubiquitous Spring breezes and blowing winds, that flower becomes a “ghost” as it dances about, disallowing a good study of its features. I don’t think that the bug is the common Blister Beetle (Lytta magister); but rather, it’s a bug with some similarities, and much more uncommon.
